We aim to provide first class music tuition for
all ages and abilities in a friendly and productive atmosphere. Every pupil is
actively encouraged to realise their full potential.
Our Music School is run in
Dawsons Music in Altrincham and
classes are started throughout the year as soon as there is sufficient demand.
Music pupils at the school receive automatic discounts at the store and many
take advantage of this.
Our Music School turns 24 later this year and has around
300 pupils offering lessons on a weekly basis, running well established
piano, guitar and ukulele
and using proven teaching methods and techniques. Our school also
offers Rock School courses.
All our teachers are extremely well qualified
and highly experienced musicians. Our 3 studios are well
equipped so pupils do not need to bring their own instruments and none of our
courses use headphones.
Before any teacher takes their first lesson, they will have undergone extensive
training to teach their course. But it doesn't stop there. A key part of
teaching is the ongoing training, which all teachers undertake to keep their
In addition, teachers have written lesson plans, and regular reviews are made of
lessons and the teaching that takes place. In this way, though it is the
teachers that are providing the lessons, there is also an overview to ensure a
high assurance of quality music teaching. Differentiation within the classroom
Some music schools provide little if any training, and some use teachers with no
formal teaching qualifications although they may have a performance award. That
is not the case with the teachers who teach at Dawsons Music School.

Starting a Dawsons course
is easy and inexpensive. No previous experience is necessary
and our school is equipped with the latest equipment -one instrument per
pupil- so you don't
have to own an instrument before you start. We do
not use headphones.
